Three years ago I came across Maira Kalman's blog for the N.Y.Times,
The Principles of Uncertainty. I loved her work so much I was inspired to start a visual journal on paper for myself. Now I want to share some things I like, so I feel it's only right to start with her. It's wonderful to see this Cartier-Bresson photo through her eyes.
You have created such a lovely spot to rest on a Sunday afternoon. Looking forward to many more visits!
ReplyDeletelooking forward to seeing and reading about things you find interesting. keep searching.
ReplyDeleteI love this. (And I love Maira Kalman, too. I always want to walk into her world.) I recently started working in mixed media art (aka collage) and my teacher, who I love, is a huge proponent of this kind of visual journaling. She also said, and this was revelatory for me, that art is not separate--meaning, you can have one journal that is your visual life, your writing life, your working life, your mundane life....all together. I have yet to brave such an audacious concept, but I may try. Keep posting! Can't wait to see your work, not just CB and MK ;-) BTW, found you via Firefangle...
ReplyDeleteThanks so much to ALL for the encouragement!
ReplyDeletePaige: Your blog http://thesisterproject.com/orloff is really enjoyable, and growing up without an actual sister myself I've always relied on my friends to be that for me, which I see you've done as well. I've just updated my web site, which is how I thought anyone would wind up here http://www.lauraclaytonbaker.com so it came as a lovely surprise to see you got here without it! It seems to me that your blog does bring all those elements together, so you're braver than you realize!
